CSS menu troubles

I am using the CSS menu action for the first time and am not sure how to get thehorizontal menu bar I created to display how I would like it in the browsers. When I create the menu bar in Freeway there are five menu selections I have, and I have them spaced to reach to the end of the page, It shows how I would like it displayed when I look at in preview in freeway. However when previewing in safari or firefox its displays shortened and you see the page background for almost a menu items length (looks tacky and not very web standard) So how would be the best way to insure that it is displayed well. One thought I had was to place a graphic item directly behind it, same size, and background color, so if different browsers want to shorten it there would still be the consistency of a full menu bar. Is that the correct fix or is there something I might be missing altogether. Thanks.

I’ve seen people put graphic backgrounds behind their CSS menu’s to solve this issue. I’d say try it and see if it works.

I had a similar problem and I just made a box behind the munu and filled it with the same color as the menu items.

There is a more elegant solution from chuckamuck in the sample at the en of this thread:
