select a text, select a curve, select menu text > associate to a curve
(or whatever it is in english, since I’m backtranslating from my french version here -that’s the LAST command in the text menu)

Can someone please tell me how to draw an irregular polygon with
straight sides? The MacDraw tool that used to do it looked something
like the polygon tool in Intaglio, but I can’t seem to use the polygon
tool without turning the sides of the polygon into curves. I’m sure
I’m doing something totally wrong, but I don’t know what.

Tool > Pen
Click, move, click, move etc (Don’t drag after you clicked: that’s
how you curved it.)
To close, move cursor on starting point and Option click (The pen
will then have a little circle next to it.)

Thanks much, Alain. Is there somewhere I could’ve found this without
bothering the list with such an elementary question? Couldn’t find it
on Help.

It’s probably there somewhere but the Help could take some help and
asking for help on a list is fast and easy (I have done it a lot for
LaTeX) so I would say don’t worry.
On the other hand–I just took a look:

Got it. Problem was, since I didn’t know what tool to use, I could
only search by function, and that turned up nothing. So yeah, I think
the list really might’ve been the only way to go. Sometimes I wish
someone would sit down and write a real manual . . .

still - cannot repoduce it. (to curve text or align it with a curved circle or arc)
I can draw with the Path Tool, ok
but how to associate a line of text with the path?
this is the question…
Hope someone can jump in and throw in a rope

Select text and path and go main menu “Text” last entry: Path binding-> Bind Text To Path.

I’m considering buying Intaglio, and have been trying different things that I often need, in the trial version. I also can’t figure out how to align text with a curve. I can find “path binding” in the Text menu, but no matter what I do it’s greyed out.
I have a line of text and I’ve tried with an oval, an arc and a curve drawn with the pen tool. Select them both, and it’s still greyed out. What do I need to do to make the command usable?

Time to bump the thread.
Is there any way to bind the TOP of the text to a path, rather than the base? There is a way of fiddling this, but it looks awful.
Once the text is bound, I can’t really seem do much. It would be nice to be able to move the text along the curve, at the moment I am having to continually bind and unbind, cutting the curve until the text starts at the right place.

Seems you didn´t discover the “Text-panel” yet.
Hopefully this will make it a bit clearer:

PS: why is this thread quoted as: “Polygons?” ?

To move text around a path, drag the Path Bias slider. It’s in the Text menu (Window>Text).

Oh yes, didn’t notice that extra slider popping up.
Thanks
