I’m looking for a simple piece of software that I could place on my host’s server providing a capability to create simple interactive lists on my FW site. Any suggestions or do I have to go towards php code and ask for help?
By “interactive lists” you mean…? What specifically needs to happen with the lists/data? Depending on that, you may be able to find a script on Hot Scripts or similar otherwise building something manually may be the better route to take.

Would the list be static, something you edit from time to time? Or
would it need to be dynamic, responding to user-driven input or
managed by a code-phobic client?
There are a LOT of JavaScript list-sorter tools you can add to a
page, but that only ever works on the browser-side.

By interactive I mean sortable columns so if a viewer of the
website clicks on the column heading the list would resort itself.
