date-action for 'update' date

Good day,

For our website, we’d like a date-action for when the site/ page

was updated / refreshed NOT FOR the date when the user happens to

download the page.

Is there something in this vein?

Would something like the “Last Modified Date” action on this page:

http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=beta

be what you were looking for?

Last modified pro looks like the one you need:

http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=beta

Yep! thank you,

now the only hinder is that I get an error message:

ACTION CANNOT BE USED.
The following Actions have been incorrectly applied and will be ignored.
Action: “Last Modified Pro”, Page: “main”.

QUOTE

Anyone knows what was “incorrectly applied”,
for the action was installed on the FRW-icon (which then launched).

I think you have to toss in the action within a line of text so the easiest way would be to have an HTML item, click into it to get the blinking text cursor, then hit the space bar once, goto “Insert” and see if there a “Last Modified Date” action in there and then after that hit space bar again. Then you can apply a style to it by selecting it with a click and drag and choosing the style in the palette.

Thabk you Dan, but
either way same result:
No matter if the action is inside or outside HTML-Box (CSS Layout).
What is wrong here?

But have you placed your cursor between two words in a run of text and then inserted the action

Like this: blah blah (cursor here) blah blah

One other thing Omar

The file that is linked to is: Last modified pro.act3

Did you change the suffix of the filename to .fwaction before you installed it?

In other words: Last modified pro.fwaction

Omar kindly sent me a sample Freeway file that he was having problems
with in relation to this action but, however hard I try, I just can’t
reproduce his error.
Can anyone tell me, Softpress maybe, in what circumstances would the
application generate the following error?

If I can find out why Freeway considers the action is incorrectly used
then I suspect I’ll get closer to understanding what is going on here.
Thanks in advance,
Tim.

The Action says it requires ApppleScript to work and I get that error
if it isn’t. We did just recently improved the JavaScript date
function in the Action API though so you could potentially use that
instead now (assuming that’s what you are using the AS for).

Hi David,

I didn’t do it, only dropped the action-script on the FRW5Pro- icon.
But now I did as you describe,
and reinstalled it on top of the old version of the action, and
got a confirmation that the most recent will be used.

However still the same result:

ACTION CANNOT BE USED. The following Actions have been incorrectly
applied and will be ignored.
Action: “Last Modified Pro”, Page: “notlastmodif”.

Hope it is not a fault on my side .

Hi Joe,
Thanks for this. Yes, I forgot the action was using AS to generate the date and
time. I seen to recall having to use a script because the API call was a bid
screwy. Can you recall what got changed off of the top of your head?
Thanks again for looking at this.
Regards,
Tim.

Yeah it was fixed up for the RSS Feed Action. It will now return a
correct time and date with correct daylight saving. Previously it was
returning GMT -11 instead of +1 for BST.

Yes that would be good!

As to now I still can’t use the Last modified pro.fwaction (vs. 1.1) and there’s still this error message as above:
ACTION CANNOT BE USED

And I use an inline DIV with text before and after.

Could someone from Softpress tell me why this action fails in FRW 5.2 Pro ?
