Does Freeway Pro have good online help?

I see in the Item/Actions menu something called “Pic in new window”.

Is there some place where I can learn about this action? I’ve tried typing those words into the Softpress Knowledgebase, but nothing comes up.

Where can I learn about such things? I’m trying to find out how to create a page with thumbnail photo’s, and when you click on one…it pops up to a much larger photo.

Thanks in advance…

On page 357 of 468 of the Reference Manual (Screen Version viewed in Preview) it briefly talks about how the Pic to New Window is similar to the Text Link To New Window in its setup.

To apply this effect you’d have to take your graphic thumbnail (or in general any Graphic Item) and apply the ‘Pic To New Window’ action to it and then in your action’s palette you get a few options. You can change the title at the top of the pop-up window, you have to choose the larger image you want to use in the window, you must set window dimensions, options like if you want a browser-like toolbar, any scrollbars if the image is larger than the window, whether the window can be resized manually, etc.

According to the manual, the Use Link would “allow you to open a new page in the current window as well as the new window by selecting ‘Yes’ and applying a link to the item using the Edit Hyperlinks dialog” box.

Hopefully that helps. When in doubt check the manual.

To add to Dan’s response, you can download the screen version of the
Reference Manual here:

This gives all you really need to know, but there is other information
here:

You can also achieve a similar effect using the Rollover Action and
Target Show/Hide Layer.

For each picture, make a small ‘thumbnail’ image and apply the
Rollover Action from the Item menu. Set to Mouseover or Click, as you
prefer, and give each one a different target number.

On an area of your page, make a stack of larger images, one for each
picture and apply the Target Show/Hide Action, each with a target
number to match the relevant thumbnail. Set to Initially: invisible.
(You will need to duplicate one image or make a ‘picture frame’ where
they will appear, if you don’t want a blank space on load)

Experiment with the settings in the Action to get the effect you
prefer. In fact, always experiment with settings in Actions when you
first use them - it’s the quickest way to learn. (I always keep a
“Scratchpad” page somewhere when I’m developing a new site, so as no
to disturb important content).
