Can any one tell what essential aspect of Exhibeo’s modus operandi, necessitate it being Lion only, eg does it use or rely on some routine introduced by Lion.
I humbly raised the point, since I have read many posts here, some from experts in FWPro 5, expressing their reluctance to switch from Snow Leopard to Lion, and if Apple politics are somehow forcing Softpress’s hand towards Lion only Apps, then IMHO it’s a sorry day.
I was wondering the same thing. Why is it Lion only?

The math is pretty simple. If you want to build one version of your application (and you do, when you are a smallish company), you want to build a version that will sell on the Mac App Store, where you will sell a metric crap-ton of copies. Which means it has to support “sandboxing”, which means it has to be Lion.
I don’t work for or speak for Softpress, no inside information here, just an educated guess.

Glutton for punishment, that I am, but am I to understand that FWPro 5.6.5, advertised as “Mountain Lion Ready”, is NOT build according to Apple’s ‘Sandboxing Guidelines’, whereas FWPro FS as sold in App Store, is!
There’s an equal possibility that I have no idea what I am talking about here. Of course you’re right – the Freeway MAS version runs on Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later.

This seems likely to also mean that Showcase is obsolete and perhaps will be dropped from FW6 package.
If you look at the thread “Exhibeo is here!”, started by SP’s Joe Billings, it seems that to assume the demise of Showcase would be a tad premature, since Exhibeo, seems to be somewhat beta.

Walter is correct, all new apps on the app sore need to be sandboxed, and that requires Lion. Freeway was added before that requirement was put into place, so can still be built to run on Snow Leopard.
Hope this helps clear things up.
