Editing FLV files

I need to edit an FLV file. I need to take out sections of the movie without affecting the soundtrack. I know I might have to extract the soundtrack and then re-embed it after I’ve monkeyed around with the video. There are lots of FLV editors that will edit the video but I need to isolate the soundtrack. Can anyone recommend reasonably priced software? I might only need it for this one project so I don’t want to spend too much.

I think you may find an easier time converting the flv into a Quicktime compatible format first. Once you’ve done that you have a lot of editing choices.

OK, so I was just going to say that’s not what I wanted to do, and wouldn’t converting the thing back and forth lower the quality even more, etc.

Then I thought I’d better try it before I dismiss the idea.

So now I’ve downloaded the iVideoConverter and it works better than I could have hoped. The quality of the video is great. I’ll get the full version and convert the Quicktime version I’ve already edited.

Once again, I am grateful for the expert advice on this forum. Thanks for your help Chuckamuck. Hope you’re on commission
