Hi Julie,
I’d strongly recommend using an online service to send your emails. As well as handling the sending, bounces and database sides of things they will also avoid your mailbox getting blacklisted should someone mark your mail as spam. Most offer a free service that should cover the number of recipients you are talking about as well.
If you really want to do the mailing from your Mac rather than using an online service then consider one of the many tool available to merge and send the emails for you. For example;
Thank you for the info.

Hi Julie,
You will almost certainly be OK sending this out using your own email client (send it to yourself and BCC the recipients) as it is a holiday card after all and shouldn’t ruffle feathers from people thinking you are spamming them. If you have time invest it in looking at MalChimp’s service as it offers a lot of benefits over doing this all yourself.
Regards,
Tim.
