Everything's centred!!

Hi everyone,

I’m having a bit of a nightmare and need some help from the experts.

I’ve been asked to make some amendments to a site that I created in Freeway 1 or 2.
I’ve opened the site in 4 Pro and needless to say, links got broken, things moved etc. Anyway I tidied things up and corrected many of my old bad habits, but here’s the problem…

It’s frame-based (yeah I know), and all of the text in the contents frame is set (using styles) to left-align and looks fine in Freeway. But when I preview or publish the site, all the text is centred.

I’m pulling my hair out here.

Many thanks,

Ade

Have a look using the inspector’s style Inspector - with the white T in the
black circle.
This is essential in my opinion to seeing where styles ahve been applied and
also as a way to remove extraneous or misapplied.

So select the text and see if there is a style applied somewhere up the
hierarchy - such as to the page or text box or whatever - this could be
overriding what you have set.
Frames:
If you make sure to have links to your site pages in the no-frames pane then
you can at least be indexed by SE bots. The pages may be found outside their
frameset and you can apply actions to address this or at least have a clear
link to the front door on the page.

hope this helps

Brian

Thanks Brian,

I’ve had some joy by aligning the page to the left instead of none, but not completely sorted the problem.

Freeway’s Styles are doing my head in… I’ve created styles, I select text, click on the style and Freeway creates and highlights a new temporary style.

Ho hum. Roll on v5!

Thanks again.

I can only restate that without the style Inspector in the Inspector Pane -
I would be as lost as you.

If you try to mix different character/paragraph styles Freeway creates a new
style.

If no style is present and then I apply a style I get it.
But to apply a different style I may have to remove it for the new one to
take.

I bet it will be similar in 5 because of the increased access and
integration with CSS that Freeway 4 + offers.

Its a pita but forces a new approach and one that has to get to learn about
what styles apply to and what they er are.

I always use paste special unstyled for anything coming into Freeway and I
go straight to the style Inspector in the Inspector Pane as soon as anything
behaves amiss.
hope this helps
