Exhibeo alternates?

I haven’t tried Exhibeo yet, but checking out the template demos, none seem to offer quite what I want for a gallery of my current and former music students.

Is there an easy-to-use and edit alt to Exhibeo? Looking for a head shot that enlarges and adds text info on rollover; can Exhibeo do that?

Thanks all!

Exhibeo is the easiest thing to use for what it does IMO.

I cannot imagine how something could be easier while also being more
complicated… hopefully, in your case I will be proven wrong. Have you seen
a site out there that does what you want, or is this just wishful
designing?

Just wishful designing, Big Erns. Does anyone know if Exhibeo can do the more info on rollover thang?

John, in my experience, Exhibeo is a nightmare! It may be me, but I have found it

  1. impossible to centre on the page, even within a centred container. In a flexible width design it wanders left and right off centre.

  2. impossible to add graphic effects, like outer glow, etc. to its box in FW. Again, I have tried applying them to a container and making the Exhibeo gallery 100% width and height. Always looks OK in FW design window, but in preview, the Exhibeo box drops to the right and down.

  3. very limited in terms of available styles and effects.

I would love to hear about an alternative. I feel like I’ve wasted my cash, although to be fair, it wasn’t much.

I would love to be shown how to get 1) and 2) to work with Exhibeo.

Hi. I’ve found Wowslider easy to use with Freeway 7 pro and has the added bonus of working in responsive sites. Here’s an example done with the free version, don’t know why you’d need the pay version: http://www.ukmonsterdeals.co.uk

And here’s the method, thanks to Chuckamuck in this thread for the method: http://www.freewaytalk.net/thread/view/85767

Hope that helps
David

David, that looks really good.

I tried it out in a little test site and yes, it works well in FW.

The only thing is, how do you control where it goes on the page? Left, right, centre justified, etc.?

Hi. The short answer is yes.

I’ve successfully added an HTML item, set it to the size of the Wowslider export and added a HTML Markup placeholder inside it.

Then you can position it where you like, as with other HTML items.

David, can you explain how you did that?

I’m guessing you put the section in ‘Page>HTML Markup’, and the section in the inserted Markup item.

That seemed to work in my test.

Experimenting a bit more with this, I can put it inside a container and apply effects to the container OK, but even though the container is the same size as the Wow window, there is always a border at the bottom which completely spoils the effect.

Have a look here www.igmack.co.uk/sg.jpg

It’s OK top, left and right, it’s just the bottom that’s a problem. Any ideas?

As an aside, you want the pay version because 1) it’s illegal to use the free version on a client site, and 2) you can remove the watermark, etc.
