[Express] Adding a new Folder

I am trying to create a Newsletter Page and believe that I should create a file in a new (email) folder. I have done this but cannot view the file in Firefox (404 error message). Any ideas?

What did you call this new folder? Naming conventions on the web are quite strict - stick to Alphanumerics (a-z, A-Z, 0-9), underscores _ and hyphens -

Don’t use spaces or other characters like punctuation marks or commas etc.

Same applies to your file name ie index.html is Good joe’s page.html is Bad

Thanks, David

I called the folder “email” and the new page “what’s on”. I have never had a problem in Freeway in having a space in a page name as it is removed when published in the URL…

Dave is cautioning you on the file name, not the title. It’s important to note that you can set these independently from one another, and Freeway will let you create a path with a space in it (and probably shouldn’t let you do that).

If you set things up the way you describe, what is the issue? What URL are you trying to visit in your browser, and what do you see when you do?

and the new page “what’s on”

As long as it is NOT what’s on.html as that is not valid

Thanks, Walter.

I believe that I have to pick up the page URL from a browser, to allow the Newsletter to be sent.

I have created a page in a new Folder, but cannot view it in Firedox (404 error) message…

Try using Preview in Browser on your Mac. You should see a URL that begins with file:///path/to/the/site/folder in your browser. Copy that and paste it here. We won’t be able to go there either, but we should be able to figure out from that address what your actual URL is.

Also, just triple check that you have uploaded the site since you made this new page. You do have to do that in order for the files to be uploaded to your server. I tried both upper and lower-case (everything after the domain name is case-sensitive) and couldn’t see the page or the folder.

OK…

I have actually created two files for test purposes. I have tested hyperlinks from a different page, uploaded and tested on the Internet using Firefox - they both connected to the pages!

I also checked the links on my IPad, and they also worked.

However, the url will still not publish on another laptop.

The second url is: http://www.matlockareau3a.org.uk/Email/test01.html

The preview url is: file:///Users/webmaster/Documents/Matlock%20U3A/Site%20Folder/Email/test01.html

I see this just fine. It says Add Text Here in the middle, looks like your other site pages all around…
