[Express] Can't create new document

I’m using Freeway Express 6.1.2 - and it won’t let me create a new blank document.

I go to File → New… and see the dialog box with a handful of templates. I click on the blank template and get another dialog box where I name it and select the folder location for it.

I do that and click on “Save”, and I am returned to the dialog box that shows the handful of templates. The new document that I tried to create is not saved in the folder - it does not exist.

I have tried this several times and made no progress. HELP!!!

Can somebody tell me how to create a new document in Freeway Express? It shouldn’t be so hard!

Thanks
Clint

I think I solved this. I was trying to put the new document inside a folder that was nested within the Applications folder. Apparently Freeway doesn’t allow that.

When I selected a location outside the Applications folder, Freeway let me create the new document.

Suggestion to Freeway developers:

If your software is not allowing the user to do something (as in this case), don’t just say nothing and put the user into an infinite loop of frustration. It would be easy to have a dialog box pop-up that says “You can’t store a Freeway file within the Applications folder. Please choose a different location for your file.” …Or better yet, get rid of that restriction.

This is a feature of the Mac OS, not Freeway. Permissions on the Application folder prevent casual tampering with applications, or adding or removing them without an administrator’s password. It’s a feature, not a bug. Now as to why Freeway was pointing you into the Application folder as a potential target for saving a file, that’s another matter entirely. But I doubt that they chose that destination for you — you are in charge of where to save a file on your computer.
