[Express] CMS

Hi, I have the newest version of Express. I’m looking for an action, I’m only new to this, but I think you get CMS Actions. I had a small real estate agent asking me to build a site for him, with only 10 properties, but he wants to be able to update it himself, new/sold properties etc…

Also what about shopping cart Actions?

Thx

There are some simple CMS systems out there such as Pulse http://pulsecms.com/ where you dont really need any actions to do this. Just insert some PHP code into your FW page via a Markup item and away you go.

But if you are getting paid work you really should buy Pro for all the other features that you will need in order to build a professional site.

Hi, thx Dave, I just had a look at the demo, I think that’s what I’ll get. I’m aching to upgrade to Pro. I’m only just learning the program, which is awesome! As soon as I get decent work in I’ll upgrade (hopefully in 2 months or so), at the moment I’m just trying to put fuel in the car. Money is VERY tight. He’s wife is a big financial advisor who knows allot of business people, so we agreed on a very low price in return for pointing business’s to my hopefully new company soon www.lmit.co.za

I’m watching and reading everything I can get in regards to Freeway. Really great program. I tried DW5 as well, which I own, pointless in me even trying. Do prefer Freeway.

Thx for the info Dave, I am however buying Pulse today.
What about Shopping carts

There are mainly discussed three of them on this board:

  1. http://www.mals-e.com/
  2. http://www.romancart.com/
  3. http://www.ecwid.com/

I never tried them “live” but I personal have an eye on the third one. It is running as complete stand-alone but as well to integrate into freeway within minutes.

I set up a simple teststore here:

http://www.kimmich-dm.de/ecom/ecwid-shop.html

And under the “freeway examples” you may find an entry called ecwid widgets on how to integrate it.

Maybe a starting point.

Cheers

Thomas

Hi Thomas, had a look at your cart, really well done. Which one did you use?
You are probably using Freeway Pro?

I’ll have a look at the others as well. Seems like good options.

Hi Heinrich,

the ecwid as I wrote.

Well yes using Pro, but I think it should be to achieve with the Express as well.

I never used or looked into the Express and there is a one big, big point you actually can’t figure out but is in fact one of the strength of FreewayPro:

Layer based design. This was (cause I slightly changed my workflow) my personal starting point for all I did in the past. And freeway helped me to understand a few more things in detail. This start-up to keep thinking DTP was so precious I not thought one day about the price.

But agree that we have to look on our few bucks a bit closer in these days.

So I am, as most of the days, 100% with Dave’s statement above.

Cheers

Thomas

Oh yeah I missed the ECWID part.

I do agree with Dave using Pro, I started with the Pro trial. I just got another easy job, paying good money, so I should be upgrading in about 2 weeks. It’s just sooo much more beneficial.

Thx for all the info
