[Express] File link not working in trial version

Beginning to think i am going mad.

All attempts to link a file to a site fail miserably.

The link and its text are totally missing when previewed and looking at the html there is equally no reference.

Tried linking to a graphic as an alternative and freeway crashes when i try to preview it.

Any ideas before i uninstall the software as useless

This is strange behaviour - can you outline your method for creating a link ie

Select text

Edit>Hyperlink

Choose Internal/External Tab etc. etc.

David,

I used the

Insert>Action>link to file

option as detailed in the help file. it is also broadly the same option as in the video tutorial although that was with v4 and so the menu items had slightly different names

I have tried every variation and none of them seem to work

Are you trying to create a Download link or are you wanting something else?

Hi Andy,
Have you got the Actions palette open (View/ Actions)? Most actions have options you can set in this palette and it sounds like the Link to File action hasn’t had a file specified.
With the Action item selected open up the palette and set the file to open when the user clicks on the link. Let me know if this helps at all.
Regards,
Tim.

Tim,

Definitely selecting a file in the Action palette and have tried using different text as well.

When i tried linking to a graphic, using the cd graphic in the cloud template it actually crashed Softpress everytime i tried to preview

Very frustrating as built what i wanted very fast and then wasted 4 hours trying to get this to work, and failing.

Hi Andy,

I’d recommend getting in touch with our support team with your file. Something doesn’t sound right (I’ve never heard of this problem before) and they’ll be able to spot it a lot quicker if they have your file.

The address to send it to is: support(a)softpress.com – please send a description of what’s happening too, detailing what page and items to look for.

Regards,

Joe
