[Express] Font & size reset default?

Can anyone please advise how to set a default font and size so that all Masters/pages use it for body text?

I have tried both Edit>Fonts and Edit>Font sets, and in the latter have selected a non-serif font set like Verdana et al, and hit Make default button.

I have tried this for both Masters and pages. It seems to make no difference. When I insert text, it uses a serif font like Times New Roman, in the Inspector the Default is Proportional and the size is Default size.

How can I set a font set/font size as a new default set for the whole site, without having to manually reset it in Inspector for every page/text box?

The only way I ever did it in Express was writing some HTML markup. What I’d do is goto Page then goto HTML Markup and then from the drop-down choose "Before " and then I’d paste in:

<style type="text/css">
body {
     font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
     font-size: 12px;
     color: #000000;
}
</style>

In Pro you’d just create a “body” tag in your CSS palette to do this but since the CSS palette is out of Express then I’ve always had to add it. You’d then change the CSS properties and values to your liking.

DISCLAIMER: Inside of Freeway you won’t see the effect working in the Page view, however when you use Freeway’s internal Preview or publish it and view it in browser then you’ll see it working. Frustrating, but it’s how it is…unless someone knows another way.

Thanks for the help Dan

I guess if one duplicates a page with this code inserted it will stick on the duplicates and save the tedium.

If Softpress is monitoring, I still wonder why in Express they have a Make default button for a font set but it doesn’t work.

Guess it’s a bug. And of course if they fix it, it would be logical to have the option of setting a pixel size default also…

It isn’t a bug, it is meant for a different use than what you
assumed. But I agree that it is misleading - I remember it causing
confusion before now.

So how does one set the default font for all text in a new document?
I’m opening a ‘Blank’ template.

Edit the “p” style in your style palette

I’m in Express. Does it have a style palette? I’m sort of a beginner with HTML. Is that the ‘full CSS text styling’ that Express doesn’t share with Pro?
thanks, by the way, for helping out.
