[Express] how to create rollover target which is not itself a rollover

I wish to have a thumbnail image be a rollover which will reveal a larger version of the image (sort of a fly-out), which should disappear when the cursor is moved off the original rollover. However, when I use the rollover method in the manual, the linked image becomes a rollover also, which I do not want. ie, the space on the web page which will be taken up by the action “target” (?) becomes a rollover space as well, which is definitely not what I want. Is there a place in the manual which tells me how to do this?

This example http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/rollover.html shows another method of creating a Rollover.

I don’t have Express so am not sure whether this is doable in FWE but if you follow these steps for the Rollover.

Once you have that working add the Target show/hide image action to the Graphic that you want to fly-out with the same Target group and Target# that you used for your Rollover.

You may also need to make sure that your Rollover image and your fly-out image are set to NOT combine if they overlap.

Hello David,

I am not quite clear on your procedure, (I am a real novice), but if I understand, I need to first do the things you say in your link. However, it also refers to a “click image”, and it is not my intention to click on anything at all, merely roll the cursor over the initial thumbnail image, then have the larger version pop up temporarily. I think this is different from what you describe in your link. Also, I need to study what you are saying regarding adding a target group and target number. Not clear on this feature, unfortunately… ;-(

You can choose whether it works with a click or a rollover - that is within the settings for the action.

Again these settings are within the action interface - you have to make sure that the rollover Target matches the show/hide Target so that 1 will trigger the other.

Just realised watching that Tutorial again that it may confuse the issue as it does not show the use of the Parameters Tab in the Rollover action - which is where you want to be using my method (ignore the Images one).

I am sorry I do not have Express or I could email you an example that you could dissect.
