[Express] HTML Email Newsletters

Hello

I’ve just upgraded to Freeway Express 5.5 and am trying to send a HTML email newsletter

I can create the newsletter and send it as an HTML email to a few people and it looks great, but what I want to do is send it to many subscribers via a mailing list.

Don’t want to use mailers like MailChimp at this time due to cost, so am trying to drop it into my own mailing list HTML email option with my hosting.

I’ve tried copying the source code when viewing it online, as suggested in the Freeway help pages, but when I do a test to myself all it sends is the code, it does not show the newsletter.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Pauline

Hi Pauline,
It sounds like your host’s mailing service is sending the email out as plain text rather than HTML - this is why you are seeing the source code. Are there any options in the online tool to specify if the email is plain text, HTML or a combination of the two? What host are you using to send the newsletters as a matter of interest?
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks for your reply Tim

There are two options, plain text and HTML text plus simple editor and advanced editor. I have just tried it again using simple editor with HTML (rather than the advanced/HTML) and it has worked this time. My fault for assuming I should be using advanced! Sorry.

The host I’m using is David Owen’s ‘I Need Web Hosting’ (www.ineedwebhosting.co.uk) and I must say it is excellent and easy to use, been with him a couple of years now and never had any problems that were not solved quickly and easily. The mailing list option even gives the coding to set up the subscribe/unsubscribe options on your website.

I’m a very happy bunny as the Freeway 5.5 HTML email is easy to use and set up too, well worth the upgrade cost for that alone.

Thanks for your time,
Regards
Pauline
