[Express] Link to File

I have inserted a graphic item (rectangle, selected shape, changed color, added text) to my page. When I select it > Item > Link to File (or PDF), a separate item is added to the middle of my page instead of making the graphic item a link. What am I doing wrong?

You want to use the Graphic Link to File (or PDF) action

Select your graphic then Item>Actions>Graphic Link to…
