[Express] My Site is Up!

Hello Freeway Community,

My site is up. Finally. Whew.

It’s nothing fancy from the design standpoint, but it’s done, and I’m going to raise a glass of champagne with a loved one and make a toast to life and the Internet.

My site is called HistoryAccess.com and has a lots of my writing. What took me a couple of years was re-writing everything about history I had ever written.

http://historyaccess.com/

I posted a few questions here and found the answers to be helpful. I found Freeway to be solid; I would recommend it to anyone. I would also tell them that creation of a half-decent Website, no matter how good the tools, is a heckuva lot of work. It’s also worth it. It’s a bit mind-boggling really, to think that anyone in the world with a computer can read my stuff.

I’ve still got a couple of issues/questions that I want to post about here in the forum, eventually. Right now, though, that champagne beckons.

Shameless plug (please forgive me) - I’m available if anyone needs to hire a writer.

Best regards,

Bob Frost

Hi Bob

Glad you have got your site up.

A couple of comments which are not meant to denigrate your hard work.

Splash page - ditch it! It is a waste of space and with no text content and a slow loading graphic it is not doing you any good.

Link on Abe at the top of every page - change this so it takes you to a meaningful page not that dead end Splash page.

I think you should probably make your About us page (with a couple of tweaks) your entry page as there is also not enough interest on the TOC page and any info there can be incorporated into About us.

My 2c (for what its worth) - because if you don’t interest your visitors very quickly they will leave.

David
