[Express] New to FW-several questions

I have two questions that I have not seen answers in the manual or tutorials.

  1. I use an rgb color for my backgrounds. I don’t see a way to use rgb#'s. I just see pallets or crayons which is difficult to get the exact same color each time.

  2. I have created a Master page that is 1000px wide and set the background color. When previewing the Master in a browser the background color is 1000 px. wide. When viewing a page based on the Master the background color extends the full width of the browser window exceeding the 1000 px desired width. What is the best way to have your site be 1000 px wide and display a light gray color on each side of the 1000px wide background color.

I cannot publish this for anyone to look at so I hope that this is enough info to help.

TIA

Hi TIA

  1. Not sure about this in Express…in Pro there is an option to use RGB for color selection, perhaps Express does not have this.

  2. When you set the page background color using the page this will determine the color of the entire background not just your 1000px wide ‘paste board’. If I’m understanding your correctly, to achieve the look you are after…set your page background to light gray, and then sketch an html item 1000px wide over your pasteboard board…then color that html item.

I’m not overly tech-ish but I think I have the answer to your question about the rgb#'s. One option (in EXPRESS) looks like slider bars. Click there and then manually enter your rgb values. After you have the color you want, drag it down to one of the empty little boxes at the bottom to save it. I found some great color examples at Cloford.com (resources, colors, 500+)

Rich is correct about creating the html item BUT I asked the same question and was told to TILE a bar - say 1000 X 10 pixels and that did the same thing and was easier as it would tile as long as the page. I did it on my website figleef.com.
