[Express] No shift rollovers

Hello,
I’m new to FreeWay, but have worked much in DreamWeaver. I like FreeWays simplicity much more than DW, and that’s a no brainer for anyone that has used DW at all. But I have a question that seems, at least to this point, to have no answer. I am using one of my photographs broken up into 10 exactly sized pieces (in 3 stages) to try and create a rollover that changes state IN THE SAME PLACE, that does not offset as you rollover, i.e all the rollover stay in the same place in all three states. The intent is to use one image (in ten pieces to create a set of 10 rollovers, each rollover has 3 states Original image, text image, then the changed image for a “visited” state. So that after they have hit all the buttons the image has changed.
As I said above in order for this to work, the rollovers need to stay in the same place, and this seems to be the problem. when rolled over the 3stage rollover feature moves/offsets the buttons destroying the intent. Is it possible to do this in FreeWay?
I am using the demo currently as I own the CS5 suite, and am not ready yet to spend more on another WYSIWYG web design SW until I know that what I want it to do, it can do.
Any help, or suggestions would be welcome.
Jim

I think that this would be easier to achieve with Pro.

There are several ways to do rollovers in FW - not all apply to Express.

Have a look at http://www.deltadesign.co/examples/rollover.html and see if you can use this method with Express.

Thank you David!
Thanks for the weekend response! I had no idea what the differences between Express and Pro were, and now I see there are some significant ones. This info is going to figure heavily in my future purchase of Pro VS. Exp.
THank you,

David,
Once again thanks for the help, but I seem to have run into a bit of a roadblock. When I have finished the fist set of procedures, all seems fine, but when I go to apply Transition FX, I get the popup warning that says: that this affect can only be applied to Layer or IN Flow items. So far as PS goes I have created a “layered object of 3 images” however this is not how FW is seeing this button.
You have already spent enough time on this (from the looks of the effort) but could you please illuminate me on the “layer/IN Flow” issue?

“layered object" in Freeway is referring to CSS layered objects. “this affect can only be applied to Layer or IN Flow items” means that the objects you want to apply the effect to must be CSS layer items.

This only applies to FreewayPro i’m afraid as Express has no layering.

but when I go to apply Transition FX, I get the popup warning that says: that this affect can only be applied to Layer or IN Flow items.

In my example the Transition FX action is an extra and not necessary to achieve the effect you want. It is there to give the Blind Down effect ‘on click’ on the ‘M’ box.

So you can safely ignore that part.

David,
Thanks again for all the help! Same thing but a different, well not so different problem.

The 3 button link works fine, until I put a 2image rollover on the page that the 3image pointed to. It then reverts to the mouse over rather than the “visited” button.

However, if I use the browsers back button it works fine. Why would this be the case? Is the created “Back to main” button resetting the main page in some way? I have tried about every combination in the rollover actions, that I can, and this has had no effect.

It works fine if I use the browser’s button to go back to the “main” but if I use the created button to go back to the “Main” it does not show the 3rd image (visited).

Pretty much at a loss, and as it is not published yet I cannot direct you to it. I am also not too sure it will behave the same live anyway . . .
Thanks again, Jim

That is why it is so important to preview your pages on a live server. You may not have a problem at all!

It also makes it very difficult for us to help when we cannot see the underlying code to your page.

Well, again thanks (broken record) Isightdigitalstudios.com is up (for debugging anyway) as 2 pages only. The 3 part rollover is not yet working correctly. But now you can look at the code and figure out what is going on.

  1. The index page rollover works if you use the Browser back button (at least in Safari.
  2. If you use the 2 piece rollover (the eye) on the “it’s all about me” page it returns you to the index page, but the rollover on the index page reverts to the unvisited image.

My presets for the 3 piece rollover are as follows for that button, in shorthand, from top to bottom of the rollover actions “images”:
Normal
Gb1me
Gb1a
Parameters:
MO= Gb1me
Click=Gb1a
Restore=Yes
Preload=Yes
FindTargets=Top
TargetGroup=indigo
Mouse over Number=No
Click=No

Before I added the second page’s rollover it worked, after the addition of that rollover it reverts to the unvisited button.
Any ideas?
