I want to start using Google Analytics on my site. It requires placing Googles HTML on the page. Although I haven’t tried it yet, I assume that Markup Item is the correct tool. The problem is that to precisely place the code the book says to place an insertion point at the place in the HTML run of text where you want the code to appear.
The google code says to place it PRIOR to the .
How can I do this?

Hi Dave,
Try the Google Analytics action;
Page menu → Page actions… → Google Analytics.
You can paste the markup you have into the page but the action will be
quicker and a lot easier to maintain.
Regards,
Tim.

OK, Have used (installed) the Google Analytics action.
Google told me to copy some code and put it on the page.
The analytic Action placed the following code:
src=resources/fwobject.js Type "text javascript><script
Is this the same code or do I still need to find a way to put the Google code on the page?
There should be a long jumble of letters and numbers that identifies
you to their server. That’s what you should enter in the Action, not
anything that looks like HTML or JavaScript.

I have never seen anything that looked like that.
I am now getting the message (when I try to upload the site) “Parameter has no value.”
"The Parameter “Sitecode” “Google Analytics”…
I am about to give up on Freeway and spring for Dreamweaver.
Most Frustrating.
Action Pallete? First time I have heard that mentioned. Anyway I am wondering if I have the Analytics action installed. I don’t see it listed but when I go to ActionForge, it is not listed either.
ssite is www.wildacreswriters.com

Gosh, you’d have a hard time working with actions if you don’t use the Actions palette!
Open this by going up to the menubar and choosing Window > Actions. This is where you configure whatever action you want to work with.
If you select an object you can apply an action to that. One simple way to do this is to choose Item > Actions, then pick your desired action from the list. With the ‘actionified’ item still selected, configure the action using the Actions palette.
If you want to add a self-contained action object rather than applying something to an existing item then choose Insert > Action Item instead. Configure it using the Actions palette.
If, however, you want to apply an action to the whole page - for example to apply the Google Analytics action (yes, I finally got around to that!) - then just go to the Page menu and choose Page Actions. Or ‘Page > Page Actions’, to use the menu-describing vernacular. The Google Analytics action should be the very first one in that list. If it isn’t, come back and say so immediately!
To use it simply type or paste your Google Analytics code into the Site Code field in the Actions palette. Then upload. Job done.
I see the actions pallette. When I put the UA code in it, I can’t do anything further.
That’s because you don’t actually have to do anything more. The action will take care of putting in the right code and configuring it with your own site code.
Google supplies the site code for those using Dreamweaver or regular text editors; they have to copy/paste it into the right part of their page code and make sure it is correctly configured. But the idea of Freeway’s actions is to simplify your work by taking care of the fiddly, complex or repetetive details. All you have to do is get on with your design plans.
When I put the UA code in it, I can’t do anything further.
That is because there isn’t anything else you need to do/add - just your UA-13117656-1
Make sure that you have also deleted/removed any code that you added via Markup previously. And check in that action palette entry that you have ONLY added your UA number.
Sometimes it is hard to tell if there are any other characters in there as well - if in doubt delete it all (the text in the box) and add it again.
I did tha but cannot get html markup unchecked. I did remove the text from it but there is still code above the and I don’t know if it has any effect or how to remove it.
