[Express] Popup window?

Actually, that’s probably not what they’re called, since I can’t find any reference to that subject anywhere . . I want a link to open in a smaller page that’s on top of the main page. The new one is a smaller size that has some specific info that doesn’t require an entire full size page…. where do I look for info on how to do that?

I think you need the ‘Link to New Window’ action.

Thanks for the reply, yes, I found that since this posting, but i can’t get it to do anything. I followed the instructions specifically, but I must be missing something. Are there any instructions anywhere that are more clear than what’s included w/the app?

Are you configuring the action item by looking in the Actions palette
window and telling it which page to open, how big it is to be, and so
on?

To do this you need to select the item. If it is inserted inline with
some text then click outside the text box and then click once back on
the item itself within the text. You’ll see selection handles appear.
Now look in the Actions palette…

Any help? Or is this not the area that’s causing confusion?

thanks for the quick reply! OK, I see it now, apparantly you have to preview it to actually see it, yes? But I want the item to appear at the end of the line of the existing text. Moving it up to that position displaces the entire rest of that last line. Any way for it to behave as I wan to? On other pages I’m going to want multiple individual words within paragraphs to be links to new windows - is it going to happen?

This is an ‘inline’ item, flowing with the text. Think of it as being
a weird variation on a regular typed character. It can help if you
resize its width so that it is approximately as long as the text it
will produce. That way the text will flow more or less as you expect
it to.

There is one small quirk that you will run into if you put it at the
beginning or the end of paragraphs of text. In those circumstances
this item will sit outside the tags that tell the browser where to
apply type styles, so it will appear as plain ol’ 12pt Times New
Roman.
The workaround is simple: put a space character before it (if it is
at the beginning of a line) or after it (if it is at the end and make
sure that you style all of the text. Then the output will be within
the run of text as it is generated and it will be styled as expected.

Sorry if this confuses things! I just thought it might be worth
noting this one small oddity now.

I believe that you are speaking of something like this:

http://www.cabel.name/2008/02/fancyzoom-10.html

It is pretty, but I don’t know if it supports other html content.
This is not as beautiful, yet it can show other pages. I think you should CSS it a bit.
