[Express] presentation hosting on thumb drive

This is a pretty basic product/company presentation that is built and working to my expectation. it will be copied to a handful (50) of thumb drives and given to prospective customers. In the mac world this is easy, however i can’t assume that only mac users will be getting these drives. i have copied the site folder to a test drive and made an alias of the index file (with a custom icon) that resides outside the site folder. pretty easy on a mac, just double click the alias and the site opens. my problem is that this doesn’t work on a pc. is there a universal way to make this work easily on both mac and pc? this needs to be really simple so the customer can just plug the drive in and without navigating through folder/file structure just double click an icon to launch the presentation. Sorry if this seems stupid, i’m a 25 yr. mac veteran, and have never done much with the pc.

PCs have their own version of aliases (shortcuts), but for the life of me, I cannot remember what they are under the hood. I suspect you would need to mount the USB drive on a PC, locate the index.html, and create a shortcut on the PC and drag it to the root level of the drive. There are all sorts of tricks you can do (on either platform) to hide the one that doesn’t matter to the other platform. On the PC, I think you right-click the Alias (if it appears at all, it will appear as a generic icon) and use the various layers of interface to make it hidden. On the Mac, you can add the hidden metadata to any file using the Terminal – have a Google for that.
