[Express] Putting text in an HTML item vs. Graphic item

Hi, I am finding that I have much more control over the text that I insert into a Graphic Item box, as opposed to an HTML Item box. Is there any reason I should try to use an HTML Item box for pages that are mostly text?

OK, I figured it out. HTML item is better for text. I can’t figure out how to spread the text out, if I put extra spaces between words, or create a bullet followed by some text, Freeway pushes it together.

If I type:
*xxxxx
*yyyyyy
*zzzzz

Freeway makes it into:
*xxxxx *yyyyy *zzzzz

Or, if I type:

xxxx yyyy zzzz

Freeway makes it into:

xxxx yyyy zzzz

How can I make it come out the way I wan’t?

How odd. It did the same thing here on the forum. In the above post I typed: *xxxxx *yyyyy *zzzzz and the text ended up all on 1 line.

When I typed xxxx yyyy zzzz above, I put 5 spaces between each group of characters, and the space were taken out.

How do I fix this?

With SHIFT - RETURN

Freeway makes it into:
*xxxxx *yyyyy *zzzzz

Or, if I type:

xxxx yyyy zzzz

In what instances , examples would you employ this?

You could make an HTML - item for each, then move those around.

Freeway makes it into:

xxxx yyyy zzzz

How can I make it come out the way I wan’t?

When I type xxxx yyyy zzzz with all 3 character groups on a separate line, freeway puts it all on 1 line (does the same thing here in the forum)

Type return twice.

When I typed xxxx yyyy zzzz above, I put 5 spaces between each group of characters, and the space were taken out.

Spaces - more than one - are ignored,

Good luck!

When I use SHIFT RETURN, it works but makes my page super long with lots of empty space at the bottom.

I am using xxx yyy zzz with 5 spaces in between each as a navigation menu at the bottom of my page.

I figured it out- by using INDENT I was able to add bullets, though my page still ends up being super long with lots of dead space.

If you want multiple spaces between words you cannot use a simple space character repeated as the web compacts these into 1 space. Its how the web works!

Instead use a non-breaking space (option+space) like this.

But there are other ways to do this which are better - post a link to an example online done with graphic text how you would like it to appear and we will try to offer suggestions. But a lot of us dont have Express to see its limitations in this respect.

David,

Wow, thanks! The (option+space) worked perfect. The other way I was doing it screwed a bunch of things up. I can’t post any links yet, as I don’t have my page up.
