I have a QT movie that is about 12mb that just won’t load quickly/cleanly on a page and can’t figure it out. Don’t know if it is a FW thing or a QT issue. It is an oddly dimensioned QT but don’t see why that would matter. I have tried it as a QT with compressed header and non-compressed header and no joy either way.
Did you use “Fast Start”?

If you have a QT file of 12Mb for what is basically a slideshow then that is too large and I would suggest that you use a Flash based alternative - something like SWF n Slide from Vertical Moon for $35 Vertical Moon | Photo Slide Show Software
Not sure how I can make it smaller. I am using H 264 for my codec - mpeg4 made it no smaller. I am not exporting it at best quality but very good quality and still around 12 mb.
Deleting the sound track made no difference in size.
You can change the frame size and/or frame rate.
I have a 1 min video on my site that is just over 7mb that looks just
like the original.
The size for that video is, 320x240, 30fps with a data rate at 845.
You have to change settings not just presets to get the size down.
It just depends what you need.
