Hello Panel. Help please. After uploading numerous successful pages like this, I find the rollovers don’t work here. I’ve restarted Freeway and the computer and Safari. No joy.
I should be able to click on the picture to make the text toggle on and off. The gold cross and the arrows should work as links to other pages. The ‘CATHEDRAL’ link doesn’t work, but that’s OK: I will insert the corresponding graphic as I complete the site. Help please!!

This is not Express - it’s Pro, right?
… the reason is, that there are some items overlaying the entire scene - covering the “steering wheels”.
Code spoken they have a z-index higher than the rollover.
Send them back or delete them (if no function applied).
Or alternatively - bring the arrows and stuff in front.

I’m by the way not sure if a carousel concept wouldn’t be the better choice rather than create (some 100) new instances of html pages. Very confusing - am not sure if google agrees with me.

Hello Thomas. Yes, it is Pro … . Thank you for your reply. However a similar set-up in
http://paulscottinfo.ipage.com/england/cathedrals/winchester/02.html
seems to work perfectly well. I deliberately chose to place most of the initially hidden photos on top so as to give a clear view. The base photo should appear uncovered by giving it a click.
I just can’t figure why the exeter pages don’t work like the winchester ones!
I did notice that my exeter CSS Layout button was inactive at one stage, but I fixed that …
Would you care to elaborate on your last comment: do you mean have a page for each photo?

However a similar set-up in 02 seems to work perfectly well.
Similar - but is it the same?
When you look at this page in FW do you have the sidebar at the left set to show all the items on the page? If not then do so.
Now select the nav items that don’t work on click (gold cross/arrows etc.) - where do they appear in the list in the sidebar?
If they are near the top then they are behind other items that appear lower down in the list.
With an item selected on the page use Item>Bring to Front - does it move down the list. Is it now clickable on Preview?
If so then that is your problem.
I am assuming that these pages are all based on 1 Master ( that is the easiest way to make many pages that look the same)
If so then ensure that the ‘navigation’ items on the Master are at the ‘Front’

Hi David. This is a mystery. The placement of the files in the two sites is identical – I could send you a screen shot if I knew how to send it to you!
I could set up the Exeter site with one photo per HTML page, and that would work fine. Thomas has suggested I look at Carousel, but I need to put some commentary on each page.
But the mystery is why a rollover on a base photo works through several on-top layers in the previous sites, but not on the new one!

Carousel’s biggest strength is, that you can put everything you can think of in each panel - images, text, forms … and if I mean text, I mean it literally - text not graphic-text.

We only can inspect code, not what happens in the page construction - so no mystery (cause the truth is in the browser):
EXETER:
There are the items “NaveNDoor”, “NTranseptWindow” and “NWallChapelStPaul” which are NOT in WINCHESTER. If I delete them, the navigation is reachable.
So watch out for them three and do what ever is necessary to do (delete or re-arrange).

Exeter … yes, that is true. But there are NWView, NNave and NNaveGlimpse in equivalent positions. I’m not convinced there is no mystery!!
I need to make some progress on this, so I think for Exeter I will set the site up with a larger number of html pages with one photo per page. This will make the site very simple, and probably easier to navigate. It’s time I varied the style anyway! For the next site (Truro), I’ll have a look at Carousel.
