I just found out my site was hacked. The hacker had my search engine results point to a Viagra Pharmacy site. I’ve used Freeway Express for years as I have no knowledge of code. I’m a private music teacher and my website is my main source of clients. Needless to say I’m devastated by this development.
I’m pretty sure my FTP password was weak and that’s how the hacker got in. My site is hosted by GoDaddy. They are partnered with SiteLock and I subscribed to their Professional service which scans the site and removes malware, etc… I ran the scan and they found malware and removed it. I contacted GoDaddy and spoke with a rep who said all looks good.
Here’s the catch, the search results when clicked now point to a blank page. Some of the pages on my site are tagged with “this site might be hacked.” The Search Console on Google says it has found no problems with my site. I’m hoping beyond all hope that Google just needs time to crawl around and all will be well as I spent years developing my SEO and would hate to lose what I’ve worked so hard for. I immediately changed my FTP password and re-uploaded the site. I simply don’t have enough knowledge of this kind of thing to know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! I was struggling with those Google instructions because even though I had the “this site might be hacked” in some of the search results, there was no indication of malware on my Search Console or Google’s transparency site. This means that I couldn’t follow the prescribed protocol.
I did end up chatting with a rep from the security company who cleaned my site. He assured me all was cleaned and protected and that the bad links would eventually go away as you mentioned after Google crawls. He said there is nothing more I can do but wait!
