[Express] Tips for importing images

Hello all,
I have to import some images of people (faces). Do I need to make them more low res before importing? They are huge now. Any tips on scaling them down ? PNG ? TIFF ?

Thanks,
Al

Freeway can import files of (nearly) any resolution into a graphic
box, and the files may be scaled, cropped, rotated, and so forth in
the design interface. After importing an image too large for its box,
press Shift-Option-Command-F to force the image to fit in the box,
then you can Shift-Command-drag a corner to resize proportionally, and
drag any corner to crop.

When the site is published, Freeway will resample the original photos
(applying these transforms that you have set) and export new, web-
friendly JPEG, GIF or PNG copies at the exact size and at 72ppi. The
original files will not be altered in any way.

Now if you are happy with the results, you’re done. But if you find
that certain images aren’t quite working the way you like, you can
further fiddle with the export controls by clicking on an image,
looking in the Export tab of the Inspector (third tab from the left),
and adjusting the settings there.

For even more geeky adjustments, I would go straight to Photoshop,
which offers a wealth of resizing controls that Freeway can’t touch.
But I would always start with what Freeway offers, because it is non-
destructive and fast, and the results are usually pretty great.

Hey Walt,

I had a feeling it would be 72dpi which is what video does.
All I know is that when I look at images on other websites they always look better than mine but maybe the images I am working with are not good to begin with.
Thanks for the tips.
