[Express] Trying to figure out “popup windows” ???

Hello, using a trial of 5.5 and this is all extremely frustrating right now. I’ve have spent well over two hours of my time trying to do what should be very easy to do. Then I spent nearly 30 minutes trying to put it all into words on the forum before the page disappeared and I’m back to zero. No, worst, I’m hours behind and nothing has happened but shear frustration! Now to try to type this all out yet again in a word processor! Never type into a forum, only paste!

Ok, did I say that I am frustrated already?

Yes, I tried and tried to find the answer on the forum and have had no luck.

I have a webpage with two lists on it, each list are links. One list is ailments and the other cures. I want to be able to have each link bring up its own smaller popup window with the desired information and at least one link. So there could be multiple popup windows open at once.

I not even come close to having this happen.

I am referring to the new 5.5 Reference ScreenVersion PDF page 347.

The instructions say, “if you want each link to open its own window, make sure that the WINDOW NAME for each link is different.”

Easier said than done. How is this done? I can only have one Popup Window action per page, so how to I add multiple WINDOW NAMES!?!? There certainly seems to be a step to three left out in the instructions!

Finally the last paragraph of that page:

  1. If the popup window will be used for navigation…

Not sure what that means, there will be links and it is meant to guide visitors to the page they want to go to. Is that a navigation page? There is no glossary to tell me what one is.

  1. you need to make sure that links are targeted back to the main window…

Huh? These links will then open many different pages throughout the website.

  1. In the Popup Window page set the Target field for any links to “opener”.

Huh? I can not seem to find anything like this.

Will I be able to do what I want to do with Freeway Pro 5.5?

I can’t take anymore now and have to go to bed!

Thanks,

R

Sorry, but I should have picked Pro, not Express!

OK - rather than use Popup Window action try Text Link to new Window - you can have as many of these as you like.

In your list of Questions click at the end of the question text to get the flashing cursor and then Insert>Action Item>Text Link to new Window

This will create an action box and with it selected you will see the various options in the Action Inspector window.

These are the same as for the Popup window action.

Alternatively ScriptyAccordion lends itself very neatly to this sort of application. Have a look at ScriptyAccordion

Thanks Dave,

It is going to start getting dark here in Denver soon, which means I’ll be starting my webworking again soon too!

Thanx,
