Expression Engine title_permalink Action

Thanks to Joe and Dan J we are well on the way to getting beta site up and running under EE. Yay!

However we are still having trouble with the title_permalink action. We use a side area to list recent news headlines and the title_permalink action tag to go to the news story. This all works well until the story opens, which is ok, but the side bar is now only list the story you are on.

Site here: http://www.ryedesign.co.uk/SA/

Also is there a way in FW to get EE to put a thumbnail of the story image in the side bar?

Thanks again guys.

I’m thinking the way to do this is to be explicit. What you are using to define and fill that box is making some assumptions, and when you get to a specific page, those assumptions are incorrect. You need to tell that box that you want so many stories from whatever weblog, etc.

Otherwise, that side bar is using the page info to populate itself. That’s great for the article, but not great when you want info from other sources.

Solved ‘part’ of this!

I set my weblog entry to have dynamic = off and it now pull in all the titles and links wherever you happen to be.

Next problem is that when you click the link in the side bar it takes you to the news story but now the main menu won’t link to the main news template/page??? Also the footer is missing after clicking the permalink…

Anyone got any ideas?

Getting there…
