FancyZoom - How?

Hi

Can anyone with experience of FancyZoom give a run-through to make this work in Freeway. ie from the instructions on the page . . . cabel.name: FancyZoom 1.1 where to place the onload code.(4). Where do the original images need to be placed - ie the thumbnail and the zoom images? And where are the link codes placed.(5).

Any help much appreciated.

As to the onload part, you can do that in the Page > Extended dialog.
Press new, then in the name field type onload and in the value field,
put all of the content of the onload statement that they gave you. So
if you were given

onload="foo(); bar(); baz();"

…your Page > Extended dialog would look like this:

Name Value
onload foo(); bar(); baz();

Thanks to Walter and Macel for your time - screen shots are an excellent tutorial - worth a load of text - will give it a try later and let you know how it goes!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend

I have had a go without success.

I uploaded the two FancyZoom folders via ftp.

I added the page markup Before

I added the extended attributes for BODY

and used the hyperlink external to attach the zoomable image

When I upload to test and click on the thumbnail I just get the original large image opening in a new browser window top left.
Have I missed something?

Can you past a URL to your online page(s) - so much easier to diagnose when we can see your code.

I uploaded the two FancyZoom folders via ftp.

Where exactly did you put these? Inside public_html, same level as public_html

Hi David
Yes - I should have done that - test page at this URL final server space not final just now

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/trevmac/Howard/schoolstaff.html

The thumbnail in question I am testing with is “Building Supervisor” Mr J Reid

David

The two FZ folders are in a Folder “Howard” - where all the uploads for the site are

Double check the page markup and extended attribute, maybe there was error when you pasted the code

Hi Marcel

Thankyou for your reply. I have double checked the markup and extended attribute and reloaded all. Still no joy. the item remains the same

I think that this is down to where you are uploading the 2 FZ folders to.

Try copying these folders to other levels in the space ie public_html and also public_html/trevmac and see if that makes a difference.

I believe that the instructions on where to put the folders says “upload the two folders inside the package to the root of your webserver”. The folders have to be in the same directory as the page the effect is used on.

According to Wikipedia

In computer file systems, the root directory is the first or top-most directory in a hierarchy.

Now in Trev’s case

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/trevmac/Howard/schoolstaff.html

At which level is his Root

Thatb is why I was suggesting he Copies these folders to different levels and then he can see which one works for him.

Now on my server I have the 2 FZ folders in public_html where the page that I want to have the FZ effect is at public_html/testpages/mypage.html

And it works for me!

I just made a simple test case and after a little effort, it works fine.

http://louslittle.com/FancyZoomTst/index.html

I think your java script folders ( js-global and images-global ) are
in the wrong directory

They appear to be in this path:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/trevmac/Howard/js-global/FancyZoom.js

I think they should be in this path:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/js-global/FancyZoom.js

In other words the script folders should be in the same place the
trevmac folder is

Thanks to all for your valuable time.

I have some work to complete this morning - but will try moving the folders as suggested when I get a few minutes.

Meantime thanks to all for your support. I will report back soon as possible.

I have removed the sub-folder “Howard” and the site is now uploaded to the root (there are no other folders on this webspace ie: public etc.)

The 2 Folders js-global and images-global are there too as is the enlargement image “DSC_4826”. I just can not see what is wrong!
Building Supervisor still opening in a window of its own!

Have you tried getting this working in a new page that has absolutely
no other tricks in place? I see you’re using mootools stuff in that
page as well; perhaps things are interfering…

Thanks for that Keith

I did disable the Mootools smooth scroll to anchors on that page in a previous upload but no joy. As you say it will be a good test to try a fresh test page. I will let you know later. Thanks meantime for input.
