Feature requests

While we’re on feature requests I’d like to put down a marker to request
“Spelling while typing”.

I’ve even got it activated in Safari, very useful, very neat.

Best wishes Peter

I’d like the palettes to stay open when opening an existing FW file or creating a new one. Freeway seems to forget they were ever open.

Ditto on the above. I’d also like a plug in for Font management to work. I use Suitcase to manage fonts on my mac and I have to quit and re-open Freeway to get a new font to work - its a pain in the ass.

I think you’ll find that Extensis writes the plug-ins for the CS suites and
that Q app.

Best wishes Peter

This is already there, but you have to remember the following: Don’t
quit Freeway while it isn’t in the foreground. So this means if you
shut down your Mac, quit Freeway manually first. Here’s the root of
the problem:

  1. If Freeway is not “front” then it’s palettes are hidden.
  2. When Freeway quits, it updates its preferences with the current
    state of its palettes.
  3. Result = Preferences are updated with hidden palettes.

And no, I’m not apologizing for the current (broken) behavior, just
trying to get you through the day without screaming at the display
again.

Walt, that explains why sometimes they appear and sometimes they don’t. Were you ever a Cavalry officer by the way? - (feeble attempt at humour).

Here are my feature requests when constructing sites based on the box model method:

  1. Rollovers to appear correctly on pages derived from a master. I constantly have to re-tell the respective images that they are the normal or rollover states, despite being correct on the master. Changing masters on an ordinary page is also broken. It also involves having to re-apply the master as an extra step.

  2. For html items set to auto-expand to have an extra always-visible handle that enables you to increase the box depth temporarily. This is to let you insert the cursor to paste something else into the item, without having to disable auto-expand, manually resize the box and then turn it back on again.

  3. A larger coloured flashing cursor option to help determine visually where the ‘insert html item’ command will actually insert the new box in a complex layout that already contains numerous elements. The ‘show items’ side bar helps, but it isn’t always easy to see where that cursor is. It’s depth position isn’t always accurate either.

  4. Auto-expand html items that don’t shrink to 1px depth when there is no content. The extra handle as above would help here if they did.

  5. Ability to express everything in ems rather than pixels.

I’m happy to work around these minor failings at the moment, but correcting them would be just fantastic for the workflow and blood pressure.

Repeating Styles quickly within a body of text, from a sample within that body of text, same as Quark shortcut by Option-Shift click. That would be really useful. Saves frequent trips up to the Styles palette by placing the cursor within the text to be styled and then Option-Shift click in a sample of text of the Style you want. Very efficient.
