Over the last week I have encountered an annoying problem.
I am drawing a large family tree and I am very careful saving it frequently. But the last two days, the file I have saved will not open and I get a message: “Can´t complete this command. Unknown type.” The file in question is much smaller than the working file, 6.2MB instead of 20.4MB.
Thank God for Time machine ! I can the go backwards through the copies there, until I find one that is ‘normal’. I usually work early in the day with this and retrieving a copy from the evening ensures that I do not loose anything.
I just do not understand why a copy from 09 PM will open, but not the original on my Mac the next day ! It may have been open in the background, but I have not done any changes to it.
Can anyone explain this.
I used v3.4.1 until today, when I upgraded to 3.4.2.
But something must have changed. What I know is that Intaglio don´t accept special keys (ß,ö,ä etc) in the file save path - maybe that´s the case here.
I do use a lot of æ,ø and å, since I write Norwegian and Danish. I assume they are also considered to be ‘special’ ?
But I have many subfolders that include these letters containing Intaglio drawings. But they are not in use now.
In that case something must have changed in the last updates of the software.
I will try to change Bjørn to Bjoern in the folder name and see if it makes a difference.
