I’m a novice at web design and brand new to Freeway 5.5 Express and I am having the toughest time uploading my website.
I’m on my MacPro, I have all of the FTP info needed. For whatever reason, I can’t use Freeway itself to FTP directly to my website so I’m using Fetch to FTP. I can connect to the server successfully, however, I’m having a really hard time transferring the website itself. I think that the problem is the file extension. It’s saving as a .freeway file in my “Documents” folder instead of under the Freeway application itself. which when I talked to my hosting company, they told me that the files needed to end in .html? or .index?
The files you want to upload to your server are all those contained within the Site Folder that is defined in File>Document Setup.
Look at the fourth line down when you have the Document Tab selected. You can choose a new ‘Site Folder’ by using the Select button immediately below this.
On File>Publish Site all the files required will be ‘published’ into the Site Folder ready for upload.
But I would encourage you to get FW’s own Upload settings correct as it will be a lot less work for you in the long run.
The FW created .freeway file does NOT get uploaded - only the contents of the Site Folder
Thanks so much for your response. Aaaah - so that’s my issue - the contents of the site folder are what gets uploaded. Okay, I’m with you now. I tried to delete the old website and create a new one to see where it saved and it looked like it was saving in my “Documents” folder - which it’s not a document.
I’m going to try to create a new site and save it in a different location in my Applications folder and see what happens. Thanks so much for your help. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

Can I suggest that you use the file/folder structure that is created when you use one of the FW templates ie
Project Folder (your projects name) - then within that.
your project.freeway doc
Media Folder (all original media, graphics, sound files, movies etc.)
Site Folder
So create that Folder structure (including the Site Folder) and then Choose that Site Folder from File>Document Setup. But I would put the Project Folder into your Documents folder and not in the Applications Folder.
And if you also tell us what you have in the various upload dialogue fields (without the specific user/passwords) we can probably help you get FW’s upload sorted.
