File names Help!

Hello I am in the process in building a new site to replace my old site. Last time I had a big issue regards to the file name being changed to many times (lesson learnt).

I understand now that once you publish your site the file names will stick, so I need to make sure that I have relevant file names as well as good page titles before I upload it.

So on the new site I have set the page titles to (home page):
Dog training Sussex | Puppy training | Home | Dogs in line
the File name is: index.html (Do I need to any a relevant key word?)

2nd page
Dog training | Puppy training | Services | Dogs in line
File name: dogtrainingpuppy.html (freeway automatically cuts it short)

So my question is… Do I just need to change the file name in the inspector pallet to a more relevant one and it should stick as long as I don’t changed the file name again once uploaded.
i.e dogtraningandpuppytraining.html ?

Yes, it is wise to consider SEO when it comes to file-names … but does 'dogtraningandpuppytraining.html ’ really sound SEO friendly?

Why not using a subdirectory, and create a logical name/path from there? Like –for example–

Add SEO friendly titles to links as well, think simple yet clear. Same goes for images: SEO-friendly alt-text and name/id’s

Just my 2 penny’s

Initially, Freeway takes the Page Title and automatically applies it to the file name-- as you noted. You can manually change the file name afterwards and once changed, will stay changed.

Remember to not use spaces or illegal characters in the file name. Does that help?

Whatever floats your boat Sue … for as long as the home page is called index.html

Freeway puts the .html extension automatically at the end of the page, so for as long you don’t have to change them into .php for example in order to run php scripts, don’t change that.
