file organization a mess?

Where in the beta can I find a list of all graphic images that have
been used in my latest site? I have copied and backed up so many
versions along the beta path - I want to be sure I dont delete a
previous “Media” folder from earlier version (particularly because I
dont see that FW5 does this anymore).

You can also do a File>Save As Archive which will gather (copy) all of your media files into one place for you.

Now that would do the trick. Thanks. I was hoping to find an active listing of the directory (location) for the current file, but I have to go page by page, then image by image to find that in the graphics window. I am an inDesign user and love their “links” panel that does this for me. I thought FW might do something similar.

There’s various ways to view that dialog, one of which let’s you see
the path to the file.

Have a play.

This would be the answer to a maiden’s prayer, but my experiments have revealed a serious problem with my major site (around 50 pages):

When the archive is created I open the archived FW5 document and redirect the output to the Site Folder in the archive. (I believe this should be done automatically to avoid possible problems occasioned by publishing into the original ‘real’ Site Folder.) The FW5 document looks fine, BUT when I publish it to populate the archive Site Folder, I see the FW5 document changing before my eyes, with incorrect graphics or parts of graphics appearing in all the wrong places. When the process is complete, opening the index.html file in the archive Site Folder with a browser does indeed show the same problems with the graphics.

Now, if I make a copy of the original ‘real’ FW5 document and move that into the archive folder, replacing the one that the archiving process created, all the problems go away – I can publish the document while retaining all the correct graphics and the site so created is also free of any problem.

It would appear that the FW5 document is being corrupted during the archiving process, but why this should be I have no idea. Surely it’s just a Finder copy of the original?

I’ve registered a bug report about this, but would be interested to learn of others’ experiences.

Steve.

Hi Stewart,

I left it in a mail form on the Softpress “Contact Us’” page.

Steve.

You need to use the form on this page for Beta bug reports:

http://www.softpress.com/freeway5beta.php

Other forms won’t send your report direct to the Beta bug logging system.
