Firmware Password

I’m using this tut http://osxdaily.com/2014/01/06/set-firmware-password-mac/ on 10.9.4 to set a Firmware Password (for the first time). When I restart while holding Command+R I get a screen that shows a large lock icon with a text field below it and no labels, text or instructions. The page looks nothing like any of the tutorials I’ve seen, nor have I ever seen it before.

I have no idea what password is required, the admin pw does nothing.

Ideas?

Despite the previous owner’s belief to the contrary it seems he did in fact set a Firmware Password for this computer. Please disregard the previous post.
