Fit the window box

Right I think Im missing a simple thing or just been stupid…

I have a page which Im trying to apply a coloured box across the width which will fit to window should the window be increase in width

I.e its the same idea as a footer or a header put when i apply the box and colour it and allow the width to be 100% and slect
'fit to window is disappears

Page will scroll up and down ok so this colour box needs to move and be static as the site is vertical scroll with a background graphic which doesn’t scroll

ANYBODY PLEASE… I have spent ages trying

Hi Stu,

Is this in Pro or Express?

I can only speak for Pro, but the 100% width will only work if page align is set to ‘none’.

Set your page to Align: None, and set your box’s width to 100% using the Inspector’s Width field. You just type the % sign in there, with no space between 100 and it, and as soon as you tab or click out of the width field, the box will snap out to be as wide as the page. Drag it so that it is at one side of the page, and you’re done.

Of course, if you had your page aligned Center, now you have a different problem, also solvable. Draw another box below your header, set its width to 100% also. Select all the elements you had centered on your page, group them, then cut them to the clipboard. Double-click inside your second box (so you see a flashing text cursor) and paste. Now click once on the inline group of elements, and set its Margin to Auto (centered).

All done.
