How I did this in the past in FW3 was to use only plain, non-layered
html boxes.
[Q: Do you mean TABLE Layout?]
This way, the content stays the same relative distance from each
other in the final layout, although the actual content container size
could change.
So I could draw a very large html box, and fit the footer snuggly up
to the bottom of the box. The trick was to tick the ‘height can
shrink’ option for the main content area.
[Q: There is no " ‘height can shrink’ option for the main content
area." in FRW 5 Pro, what to use instead - any ideas?]
This way, the overly large main content area will automatically
shrink to the smallest size possible when viewed in a browser,
keeping the footer as close as it was drawn next to the large content
area. (basically the white space is removed, condensing the page
elements)
Keep in mind that there are two check boxes for association with a
master in the Inspector: ‘Use Master settings’ and ‘Use Master
content’. ‘Settings’ will control position/border/etc, whereas
‘content’ controls, well, content. Therefore, it is possible to have
an html box in different positions on a Master and a child
(‘settings’ un-ticked), but still share common content (‘content’
ticked). This semi-master item may be all you need to layout your
page as you would like.
[Q: Is this description still valid,
we tried some of the proposals on Freewaytalk but as to now,
nothing worked satisfactory…
Any input greatly appreciated,
