Flash Detection

Just started using Freeway having dabbled with very simple web design in the past…

I have a Flash movie for the intro to the site I’m building which I’ve positioned on my page. However I want to add some code to detect whether or not my viewers have the correct version of Flash installed.

If they do I want them to see the SWF play. If not I want them to be directed to an alternative page with a static image from the intro and message telling them that if they would like to view the full intro to download the Flash plug-in with the link to the appropriate page.

How do I do this?

No-one?

In the end I managed to get the image replacement to work using the swfobject 2 method which appears to be current web-approved way of handling alternative content for Flash. However this wasn’t compatible with building the page in Freeway, so I had to do this Dreamweaver where I was able to manipulate the code to produce the desired results.

I would prefer it if I could automatically direct people to an alternative page as I was hoping to show both a static image for the Flash animation and some information about how much more interesting the page would be if you could see Flash and the link to download the plugin…

It would also be useful if the swfobject 2 method was built into Freeway - possible for a future upgrade?
