We are still running a dual G4 450 with OSX 10.4.11. (Amongst others - not gone Intel as the G5 iMac’s we run, as these are still working fine with 2BG of memory) The G4 dual is till very serviceable an intend to keep it, but I would hunt round and bung in as much RAM as you can as it does makes a difference in performance in OS X. Its what you do in OSX that make you more productive.

We ran OSX and OS9 (classic) together on all machines during the transition period to OSX, The Machine I’m working on has still OS9 running with OSX, but I hardly ever go there now. Only program I use in OS9 (Classic) is Fontographer, I see now there are now font programs appearing is OSX.

Have you tried putting OS9 and OSX on the same machine (You just start it up like another program)? You get the best of both worlds, the latest web surfing, but still open Freehand 7 or Quark 4 if you really have to. e.g. we have Quark, 4, 5, 6, and 7. on this iMac G5 i’m using running.

Just took a look in the OXS Classic menu bar, at the drop down “Apple Menu items” - I can’t remember what half of them did :-§

I’m hatching a plan to just install OS9 on the faster machine and move all the files over by firewire.
