For the future perhaps?

Hi, I’m a newbie to this arena. I really only “dabble” for want of a better way of describing my use of Freeway Pro. " > amateur, < pro "

As the actions and the like become ever more slick and allow the casual user to develop more professional looking sites, can I make a suggestion to those who are continuing to take Freeway forward, that they somehow build in the facility to allow users to be able to select & view items that are contained within a layer stack. In other words see and edit the chosen layer in order to view/edit it. Perhaps this could be done using a spawned window for example. I’m not a software engineer so forgive me if I’m asking for the holy grail !!

Otherwise a good design tool, one which I shall continue to use and support. Likewise the forum, I’ve learnt so much from just lurking.

BTW if there is a way you can already do what I’ve suggested or there is a work round to work easily with stacks as in Carousel please let me know.

Cheers, Peter.

All being made & developed using Freeway 4/5

This has been possible since Freeway 1 or so. It’s just a bit hidden.
There’s actually several ways to do this.

One is to Option-Command-Click on the stack. Each time you click, you
select the next lower layer. If you watch the Inspector’s Title
field, you will see the name of the element change as you do this.

Another is to click on the title bar at the top of the Site panel,
which changes it from Site to Page. Then make sure that the
disclosure triangle to the left of the page name is down-pointing,
and you will see a hierarchical outline of all elements on the page.
Click on one of the names, and it will highlight in your design view.

When you reach the item you wish to edit, press the Return or Enter
key. The item will highlight for editing, and temporarily vault to
the top of the stack, obscuring everything below it.

One handy thing you can do is to click the top of the panel on the
left that shows the list of pages, so that it says ‘Page’ at the top
instead of ‘Site’. You can then see all the items on the page. If you
select one, in the list, and hit Return, it places the cursor in it,
ready to edit, wherever it is in the stack. Of course, what makes it
even easier is if you give each item a proper name, in the Inspector.

best wishes

Walter, Paul,

Thanks for that, it works too ;-)) I had sort of got half of the way there by using the site/page flip but it never occurred to me to press Return - doh

As Mr Searl would say nothing is impossible, its just our state of mind that makes it so, or words to that effect.

Cheers, Peter.
