Force Browser to Refresh

Greetings,

My client can’t see the changes to his website unless I remind him constantly to refresh his browser. Is there a way I can make this happen automatically instead of reloading from cache memory? He generally uses FireFox, if that matters. It’s http://www.rentoys.com

What does the “no cache” page action do? I’m using FreeWay Pro 5.0

He’s concerned our customers won’t see the updates. Is there another approach that makes more sense?

Thanks!
Doty

The No Cache action is covered in the FW manual on page 348. If you’re viewing it in Preview it’s 368 of 468.

Here’s what it says:

"Under some circumstances it is desirable to prevent the browser from caching a web page. You might need to do this if your page has specialized Javascript (or Actions that generate Javascript) that needs to be executed each time a page is appears (TYPO?) in the browser. The No Cache action adds the required meta tags to the HTML generated by Freeway in order to prevent a page being cached.

The problem though with using this Action is that it constantly pulls new everything everytime from the server no matter who goes to the site. So if you have a heavily trafficked site than you’re eating valuable bandwidth. Most people know how to clear their cache or remove their history. Perhaps persistence is key here in making sure this particular person knows how to do this.
