Hi,

indeed - a very useful app, and worth having a copy if you want simple to moderate form processing. This version seems to make using the form page as an error page a snap - which is great.

A small word of caution - I have found that not all validation options in FTG seem to be available to form elements created by Freeway 5 (I have not tried 4’s output). I’ve dropped a note to Bebosoft’s support (along with a sample of Freeway’s HTML) to see what they can do to help.

When I’ve heard back and we have a solution to this problem, I’ll look at updating the tutorial to cover the new versions of both pieces of software.

HI,
from my discussions with Bebosoft, it’s the regular text field - the sort you’ll usually see asking for your name or email address.

Freeway’s form elements all validate - it’s FTG which has problems.

FTG requires that these have the type attribute set. This is at odds with the W3C recommendations which state that such items should default to text unless specifically set.

So, if you have a text field on your page and you want Forms To Go 4 to recognise them as a text field, you need to:

1 - Select the item
2 - Go to Item>Extended
3 - Click the New button
4 - In the box that appears, type in “type” for the name, and “text” for the value (NB do not use the quotes)
5 - Click OK for both dialogue windows
6 - Publish

FTG 4 should see the elements correctly.

I have pointed out the W3C recommendations for the form elements to Bebosoft, and hopefully they will be able to amend their software in a future update to take this into account.
