Forms

Hi,

I’ve just launched my website (www.tagcre8ive.com) and although I have checked and rechecked and completed the correct procedures to implement create the form correctly, it doesn’t appear to be working. Furthermore the ‘hidden’ fields that I have also completed don’t appear to be functioning either.

Any help would be appreciated. And as I’m beginner to Freeway Pro no double dutch - plain english please.

Thanks in advance.

cheers,
Peta

Firstly your fields need to be named correctly in the 3rd tab of the inspector as name and email (case sensitive). Select the fields and check - currently you have Friends name and Friends email. The script relies on correct naming here to work its magic.

Read the blurb at http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=019 down in the Special Names section for a detailed explanation.

Hi David,

Thank you for your help. The ‘10% discount’ form appears to be now
working, that is I received a copy of the test email in my inbox. The
‘say hello’ form however is not and while I can now submit the form, it
has not sent a copy to my inbox. Also, I can submit both the ‘10%
discount’ and ‘say hello’ forms without adding any text! Thanks david
once again for your patience and support.

Kind Regards,

Where is your site hosted and is it PHP enabled?

Just to add to this

Your 10% discount form shouldn’t have 2 fields Named email and name - only the important 1 - so if you want the reply you get to display the name and email address of who completed it then their fields should be name and email while the referred parties name and email fields should be friend name and friend email but those fields will not be checked.

If you want to ensure that these fields are filled in as well then you should use the Validation Form Suite of actions which are available at ActionsForge - The Complete Repository of Freeway Actions

I dont know anything about Host Papa and whether or not they require any special configuration for a PHP form like GoDaddy does.

Where are with your forms - are either working?

Your Hidden fields wont work the way you have added them because they are not within the Form tags that FW has created because you appear to have applied the action to item7 - rather than the page itself.

Anyway the recipient and subject are handled by the action itself Email Recipient and Email Title the only thing that isn’t is the required fields and you can add that using the Validate Form Suite of actions from ActionsForge - The Complete Repository of Freeway Actions

‘Refer a friend’ form is partially working, I have completed all the fields in the form however the only information I receive in outlook is the friends name and email address? Can you make any suggestions?

Sorry David, I’ve only been working with freeway pro for around a week and your instructions above mean absolutely nothing to me, can you please break down the instructions further?

I’ve downloaded this action, however the instructions are not clear enough for my limited knowledge and I’m only able to access an action called “validate extras.”

David, thank you for your assistance, your support is greatly appreciated.

To apply the Validate action to a form field select the field and then go to Item>Actions>Validate

The action inspector will then allow you to make the appropriate settings for that field.

Yes, I’ve done that but as I explained when I go to Item>actions>Validate Extras, not Validate.

Are you selecting a text field first?

Also in FW’s main menu have a look in Edit>Actions where all your actions will be listed. Make sure there is a Tick next to the Validate action.

The Validate Extra action is a Page action and shouldn’t be available with an item selected whereas the Validate action is an Item action and only available when an Item is selected.

You are running Pro - aren’t you?

Hi Dave,

Yes, I’m running pro, however I wasn’t selecting a text field first, I was selecting the entire form…so thank you for the extra pointers!

Dave, every day I read the advise you so generously give to others and I hope you are appreciated for your efforts…because i think you are wonderfully supportive, a huge THANK YOU from me!

Cheers,

WOOHOO! I’ve fixed it and for others who may be finding forms difficult, hopefully this will help you also. I deleted the original forms and started again, however this time I created my form using a table, instructions can be found here Creating a Contact Form in Freeway - Freeway - Softpress Talk then applied the PHP Feedback action to the page, not the form item.

Thanks Dave for your support!
