I’m new to the forum and freeway and have been searching for this everywhere, so bear with me if it’s already been answered…
i’ve been building my site using frames and i’m having trouble getting them to work consistently in different browsers. it works in safari, but in firefox, the frames open up in different tabs instead of within the frame. i have the destination set to the “main” frame and have tried “_self”, everything. is there a workaround or special change in the code to enable it to work in ALL browsers?
additionally (this is probably basic), how can i get the frames to stay a fixed size without resizing people’s windows and without ever overlapping each other?

Unfortunately, frames is something that is not highly regarded in web
design circles, in no small part because of the problems you list -
although also because of difficulties managing printing, problems
getting search engine results to show properly, the impossibility of
bookmarking the right page, and so on.
When frames first became possible in web design (1994 or 1995, wasn’t
it?) I remember getting very excited. But since then I’ve found them
to be at least as much a hindrance as help.

Hard to say without seeing what you’re trying to work with now, but
the key probably lies in a careful use of fixed vs flexible frames
within the frameset.
