Freeway 4 Reference PDF = No Search?

Hello,

While patiently waiting for the version 5 reference I decided to read one on version 4 (downloaded from the Softpress site).

No matter what string I search on (in both Preview and Acrobat) I get no matches. Even searching for the word “the” turns up nothing. Is my copy somehow corrupt or does everyone else see this behavior?

Hi ss,

The PDF should be fully searchable using Preview or Acrobat and I have
no problems with it here. Anyone else getting problems?

Hmm… file nust be corrupt. I copied to a G4 laptop and same results (it initially indexes) but nothing is ever found.

I have downloaded another copy from the Softpress site via Safari’s “download liked file” item in the context menu and it is fine.

I have to say that the initial download opened in Safari, and I did an “Open in Preview” from the context menu, and then a “Save As…” from preview to save it into my Documentation folder with a more meaningful name. This has been SOP for PDFs for a long time and I don’t recall ever seeing this search issue.

Weird… but I am good to go now.

Yep - standard practise as you say; that’s one of
the normal ways I save PDFs as well. (Although I
normally prefer not to see 'em in a browser in
the first place as loading seems so much more
sluggish than viewing regular web pages.)
