Freeway 5 and Blogger

I have been wanting to look into a blogger design to match a client’s
layout.

I could swear I just read what appeared to be a comprehensive
instruction on how to set it up.

It may have been by Walter Davis.

No matter. Can’t find it.

Any help?

Matt

I had it yesterday and can’t find it now, sorry. I followed the guide but could not find the action button it spoke of to get the template. If anyone knows how to do it I would appreciate it.

Hi, I found it here: http://www.softpress.com/products/blogger.php

Hope you have better luck than me getting the template :O)

Yep, that’s what I was thinking of. Thanks.

Now that I have it bookmarked, I can get back to it. I am too busy
fighting with styles now.

I m a little confused as to whether the new Blogger functionality is simply a way of creating a template for Blogger, or whether the posts to Blogger can be made in Freeway?

I think it’s only for the initial template (which obviously can be tweaked as and when wanted) I just managed to upload a template and, although it had a glitch, all original posts and comments slip into it nicely. Just need to sort out the glitches now.

Is it not easier to tweak your template within Blogger’s interface? I don’t think this really warrants as a ‘proper’ update within Fw5

All I wanted to do was include some graphic buttons with links to my other blogs. The links work but the buttons and text are missing. I only realized the links were there by running my mouse over the area. It looks like I wasted my ‘upgrade’ money.

It depends on whether you count template tweaking as designing…

This feature makes it relatively straight-forward for someone to
design a Blogger layout that syncs properly with the look and feel
of a regular custom-designed site. If a client asks for a blog in
their site, it can be made to look it really belongs in the site
design.

Okay, Wordpress template creation support as well would be even
better, but that’s a tough hurdle given that it relies much more on
server-driven PHP.

Hi Mobabs,

Did you upload your site to your web server? You need to do this for
the images to be on the web so they can be used in the Blogger page.
Without doing this Blogger will be looking at some empty space on the
web for your images. If you have uploaded then make sure the web
address you used in your Upload dialog is correct, if it isn’t then
Blogger will be looking in the wrong place.

If none of above then let me know the address of your blog and if it
comes to it send the file through to me and I’ll take a look.

Is it not easier to tweak your template within Blogger’s interface?

You can move elements around your page but being able to make your own
page takes knowledge of HTML, CSS and then the ability to convert
those into the language that Blogger wants them to be in (or at lest
the widgets on the page). Believe us when we say it is a lot easier
with the Actions.

Cheers,

Joe

I know what I want to do can be done, but it is a long time since I did web site design. Without the manual I am struggling with things I don’t know how to do. I’ll just have to wait for the manual.

Hi Joe. I did upload everything and my other graphics were there. I found a work around for the buttons by only using text but then little design elements, like lines are missing and the roll over text colour has gone out of order. Another big problem is how to make the page colour and elements increase in length along with the posts. Lots of little glitches that possibly having a manual would help with. Also will it be possible to add widgets within Blogger, moving page elements around?

So many questions and no manual is frustrating :O)

Could you let me know your Blogger URL so I can take a look please. It
will have to be tomorrow now though as it’s getting late here in the
UK

Hi Joe
Thanks for your help. I have deleted it all now and started again. I am having problems with graphics created in Freeway not showing up and leaving ‘Item’ numbers wherever a graphic is missing. I have decided to create it in Photoshop and bring the image in. That seems to work fine so I will give it a go. The link rollover colours I changed. I made the ‘visited’ colour the main ‘link’ colour and vise versa as it works in reverse for some reason. The only thing I really need help on now is how to make the page colour or design extend down with the posts. I have modified it by making the html box the colour I want and hoping that will work. I’ll let you know how I get on. Thanks again.

Can’t get Blogger actions to generate valid code to be accepted by the Blogger site.

Still can’t get the page colour to extend down the page with the posts. It seems to me that only content originated in Photoshop works by way of graphics.

There is a page which describes how to set up a blog using Blogger, the page being found at

http://www.softpress.com/products/blogger.php

There is a note on the page stating that the instructions are specific to Freeway 5 Pro and that things can be different for
Freeway 5 Express.

What I’m hoping is to find a similar set of instructions for Express.
