Freeway 5 and EE tags

At the back end of last year I started a site using Freeway 4 and Expression Engine thanks to Joe’s EE Tag action. On this site I had a calendar page and in order for the correct page of the calendar to appear and only the entries for the present month to appear I had to add an EE tag to the link in the menu ie <http://www.livingstonecumenicalparish.org.uk/index.php/home/calendar/{current_time format=“%Y”}/{current_time format=“%m”}/>

This worked well and everything worked as I wanted it to. Last week I had to open this site in Freeway 5 as for some reason I could not get freeway 4 to open any more. On the whole the site worked except this link as freeway had now changed it to <http://www.livingstonecumenicalparish.org.uk/index.php/home/calendar/{current_time%20format=%22%25Y%22}/{current_time%20format=%22%25m%22}/>filling in all the gaps with %20 etc. Is there any reason why Freeway 5 should do this when 4 did not?

I think I have found a way round this by inserting a markup item into the menu and putting the link in there

<a href=“http://www.livingstonecumenicalparish.org.uk/index.php/home/calendar/{current_time format=”%Y"}/{current_time format=“%m”}/" >Calendar

is this a valid way to add the link or could this cause problems in other ways.

regards

Neil

Links (when published) can’t have any unencoded spaces in them. Freeway is being correct in escaping them, because it is not interpreting the EE tags as code. When you use a markup item, you step around this automatic behavior and can have whatever you want.

I’ve seen FW5 do that at times, to email addresses for instance. In most (possibly all) cases, when I cleaned it up in FW5, it was fine again. Have you tried that?

I have tried to clean it up in the links popup but it keeps putting
the %20 etc back in. The thing that I find frustrating is that it
worked in Freeway V4 but doesn’t work in 5.

I have used the markup method and that seems to be working ok.
